Description: Coordinated a research & development programme between funding bodies and international development agencies. Assisted in preparing a workshop between funding bodies and development agencies to finance community tourism projects in protected areas. Shared successes and failures, designed a pilot programme co-funded by different agencies, and developed a common strategy for a workshop in March 2005. South Africa was chosen as the pilot country to experiment with this collaboration between development agencies for sustainable tourism. Audit of the MAKULEKE community tourism project in Kruger National Park financed by the GTZ in view of planned co-funding with France.

Description: Coordinator of the European network of European development agencies. Helped to create the network, organized meetings in Washington DC, coordinated the network, established contacts with North American funding bodies, drafted strategy, updated the databases of pilot projects, reinforced collaboration between French and German development agencies in South Africa, Morocco, Benin and the Caribbean, organized the 5th Meeting of Development Agencies in Hannover, Feb. 2005, drafted reference terms for a global network with USAID, CIDA, IDB, World Bank.

Description: Organized a trade fair and European forum on sustainable tourism. Assisted the organization of the 4th sustainable tourism trade fair in Hannover. Designed and mediated a one-day workshop on marketing sustainable tourism and a panel discussion on Indigenous tourism. Drafted a marketing strategy for the group of European development agencies for a European sustainable tourism trade fair in 2006.

Description: Exploratory mission and drafting of reference terms for a four-year, 1 million euro Priority Solidarity Fund on the development of tourism in traditional communities in the world heritage sites of St Lucie and Drakensberg with one of the aims the protection and promotion of prehistoric rock art and the institutional reinforcement of tourism at a national level.

Description: World Ecotourism Summit
Organized a training day for The International Ecotourism Society on the ecotourism business (6 speakers and 40 participants). Moderated the panel Regional Ecotourism Conferences in Europe for the WTO and UNEP. Gave a presentation at the UNESCO Conference on Ecotourism in Biosphere Reserves. Co-organized and gave a presentation at the conference ‘Community tourism in Arctic regions’ with Quebec Tourism and the Inuit territory of Quebec.
