Description: Methodological support for the organization of the International Year of Ecotourism. Development of the UNEP agenda, creation of a manual aimed at funding bodies, government agencies, institutions, NGOs and a methodological guide for organizing regional events

Description: Marketing study of ecotourism for France. Survey of visitors, tour operators and destinations at the World Tourism Trade Fair for France as an inbound and outbound market. Co-drafted the publication ‘Market study on ecotourism in Europe’ with consultants in Germany, Spain and Britain for distribution by the WTO.

Description: Evaluated the ecotourism aspect of FFEM projects in terms of biodiversity, defined eligibility criteria, a decision-making guide and guidelines. Comparison with projects funded by the GEF/World Bank/EU/FED and the bilateral cooperation in Europe and the United States.

Description: Assisted with the ecotourism aspect of the ECOFAC programme (Forest Ecosystems of Central Africa). Financial programming of the ecotourism aspect of phase 3 of the FFEM. Drafted contractual documents and a proposal for the regulation of tourism in protected areas in the six ECOFAC countries. Co-led the CTS of 2001.

Description: Defined guidelines for sustainable tourism in the protected areas of the NATURA 2000 network. Organized a European seminar of 150 participants, with 47 speakers and 12 workshops. Drafted a publication translated in 14 languages collecting 20 descriptions of best practices in sustainable tourism. Conducted a comparative analysis of sustainable tourism charters and specific recommendations for Natura 2000 sites

Description: Validated and launched a Charter for Sustainable Tourism for the ESCAPADE organization. Translated the action programme. Organized a study trip in the Garrotxa Regional Natural Park in Spain.

Description: Assisted in the organization of the conference ‘Young people, jobs and national parks’. Selection of projects and good practices in France. Coordinated and mediated the ‘Interpretation and tourism’ panel and sat on the jury to select the award.

Description: Feasibility study to create value for the protected areas of Gabon. Contributed to defining the ecotourism aspect of the programme. Led a workshop at Libreville to support the Gabon government to develop a national tourism strategy.

Description: Development, testing and marketing of joint offers between Guadeloupe and Dominique to illustrate the label ‘Sisserou Seal of Eco-excellence’, in partnership with two tour operators, French and Swedish.

Description: Identification and description of 13 sustainable tourism projects in France with the aim of creating a database and selecting the 100 best practices in Europe and making them available on the ECOTIP website.

Description: Development and testing of ecotourism offers for the Cévennes National Park with a group including representatives from park lodges (Gîtes Panda), naturalist guides and inbound tourism providers.

Description: Programme of cooperation between French Guiana and the state of Amapa for biodiversity conservation. Identified and described centres, projects and pilot offers for ecotourism, created a steering group, held training and awareness-raising sessions for local governments, developed an outline for a common strategy, assisted in preparing a French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM) fund.

Description: Defined a national ecotourism strategy for the ONF. Analysis of sustainable tourism initiatives of national forest agencies in France, Europe and the United States. Proposals to create a network of forested areas in the region of Midi-Pyrénées. Expertise and recommendations for the forested Causse Noir plateau in the Aveyron.

Description: Blueprint for ecotourism in the Banc d’Arguin National Park.

Description: Mission to turn the Guiana forest into a reserve. Preparation and supervision of a study trip to Venezuela of a mixed delegation from Guiana made up of elected officials and representatives of Indigenous communities to raise awareness about the operation of a national park that meets conservation and sustainable development objectives.
