The diversity of soil microorganisms, nematodes, micro-arthropods, macro-fauna, and fine root traits are assessed along tree species diversity gradients in different European forest types.<\/li>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/websie.cefe.cnrs.fr\/soilforeurope\/function-approach-2-en\/\">Function<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 The already available rich database of predominantly aboveground functions from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundiveurope.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FunDivEUROPE<\/a> is complemented with belowground functions such as decomposition rate of fine roots and microbial processes (enzyme activity, microbial activity potential, catabolic diversity, metabolic quotient).<\/li>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/websie.cefe.cnrs.fr\/soilforeurope\/climate-change-approach-3-en\/\">Climate change<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 We assess the role of biodiversity in the resistance and resilience of ecosystem processes in response to drought in the field with rainfall manipulations (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.treedivnet.ugent.be\/ExpORPHEE.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ORPHEE<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.treedivnet.ugent.be\/ExpFORBIO.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FORBIO<\/a>), and with experiments at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecotron.cnrs.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European Ecotron<\/a> in Montpellier.<\/li>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/websie.cefe.cnrs.fr\/soilforeurope\/socioeconomic-impact-appraoch-4-en\/\">Socioeconomic impact<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 The perception of soil biodiversity by forest managers and the broader public is assessed with surveys and choice experiments allowing the evaluation of how soil biodiversity criteria influence decision-making processes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
